Québec’s Maple Syrup Producers

 

Québec Maple Syrup Producers (QMSP) was originally founded as an organization in 1966. Using the powers invested by the Loi sur la mise en marché des produits agricoles, its mission is to promote the interests of Québec maple producers and to develop and improve the production and sales of Québec maple products to their full potential, while respecting the principles of sustainable development.

Québec accounts for 90% of maple syrup production in Canada and some 72% of production world-wide. Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia contribute the remaining 10% of Canadian production.

 

The Science of Maple

 

Québec Maple Syrup Producers (QMSP) is the world leader in maple ingredients production (syrup, sap, by-products, maple extracts) and maple research. QMSP is committed to advancing the understanding and knowledge of the potential benefits of maple ingredients and maple compounds for health benefits and/or disease risk prevention and mitigation among humans and animals.

Québec Maple Syrup Producers leads and directs the International Maple Research and Innovation Network which contributes to QMSP’s Maple Research Program.

In the last 15 years, PPAQ have invested an average of $ 1 million annually in the realization of hundred research projects.

Promoting Maple to Québec and the World

 

Québec Maple Syrup Producers are maple specialists and world leaders in the maple industry, proudly representing the brand of reference Maple From Québec. QMSP also coordinate promotional efforts across Canada and in the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Japan under the Maple from Canada brand, on behalf of the Canadian maple industry.

Québec Maple Syrup Producers is aligned with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) guidelines on sugar consumption. The WHO recommends that daily intake of added sugar not exceed 10% of total daily energy intake, and which translates to 50 grams of added sugar or 37.5 ml of maple syrup (just over 2 tbsp).
